Collection NameConfirmationsDescriptionConfirmation in the Anglican Church is a service of a person confirming baptismal vows as an adult or older teenager, and the laying on of hands by the Bishop. Confirmation registers are kept by the Diocesan Bishop although there are sometimes records kept in the parish.
The confirmation service is sometimes held at a parish church or diocesan school, or in the Cathedral of the Diocese with participants from several parishes or schools. There may be some difference between dioceses as to how this is organised.
The information recorded is usually the date and place of the service, the names of those being confirmed and their ages if not an adult.
Confirmation records do not have any access restrictions as they do not contain identity information.
